A Recyclable Ferrite-Co Magnetic Nanocatalyst for the Oxidation of Alcohols to Carbonyl Compounds

2012
Cr or Mn must be used in stoichiometric amounts and are often accompanied by the formation of toxic waste products, which can be deleterious during the work-up procedure, resulting in tricky product isolation, and rendering impossible the reusability of the catalyst. The use of hypervalent iodine reagents such as Dess–Martin periodinane (DMP) presents some problems, however, advances have been achieved with the development of various 2-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX, a DMP precursor) derivatives which have improved solubility, are non-explosive, and/or are recyclable.
