Recent progress in micro-electronics and their applications in refrigeration and air conditioning

Abstract Developments in micro-electronics and computer technology are potentially of great importance in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries, especially in the areas of automation and fault diagnostics. This paper discusses predicted trends in the production and development of micro-electronic components and equipment worldwide. Applications in refrigeration include: basic research (mathematical modelling and analysis) and laboratory automation; databases for information management; artificial intelligence (robotics, expert systems); computer-assisted design and manufacture; planning of installations and process automation.
