Ammonia resulting from intensive agricultural livestock and fertilizing activities is nowadays considered to be one of the main causes of soil acidification. To set up an active program to attack the acid rain issue, ‘on-line’ monitoring with sufficient sensitivity (down to 1 ppb) of the ambient ammonia (NH3) concentration is an impetus.
