A Spreadsheet Based Dissolved Gas Analysis Diagnostic Tool For Oil-Filled Transformers

A power transformer is an integral part of a power system and should be well-monitored in advance to avoid the occurrence of a possible fault. Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) is commonly employed as a method to predict the fault in an oil-filled transformer. There are numerous DGA interpretation methods in practice. This paper conducts a study of various interpretation methods with the aim of developing a diagnostic tool to execute the preferred methods of interpretation. A simple and low-cost spreadsheet-based diagnostic tool is proposed that will be benefit users by alleviating the difficulty of using high-end software such as MATLAB, Artificial Intelligence platforms, or expert systems based on machine learning.
