Simulation of Failure Processes in Cementitious Particle Composites

1991
Progressive failure analysis in cementitious particle composites such as concrete requires a realistic description of the topology of the composite structure and the interaction of the constituents. The interface model has to account for fundamental mechanisms such as adhesion, debonding, dilatancy and mobilized friction. In conjunction with a decohesive softening model for the cementitious matrix, macroscopical failure characteristics of the particle composite can be realistically simulated. This paper addresses issues at both the constituent and macro system levels.
