Soil evolution in the coastal zone under rapid changes in the Caspian Sea level

The morphology and properties of soils on recent sea terraces within the Dagestan coast of the Caspian Sea are described. The regressive and transgressive cycles of the soil cover evolution in coastal areas are characterized. The general scheme of the soil cover evolution in the coastal zone within the last 70 years is substantiated.
