Characterization, morphology and stability assessment of low-cost industrial by-product as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution

2019
ABSTRACTCharacterized coal fly ash (FA) was investigated for removing cationic methylene blue (MB) dye from wastewater. Experiments on batch adsorption were carried out to study the effect of various parameters. The adsorption isotherm data are fitted with Temkin model. The maximum coverage capacity of fly ash was observed (15.04 mg/g) in Langmuir isotherm. Based on the kinetic models, both Elovich and intraparticle diffusion are more accurate than other kinetics. Study of thermodynamic parameter confirmed the adsorption’s endothermic nature and spontaneous. Standard free energy revealed that there was an increase in disorder and randomness causing structural changes in the dye and adsorbent.
