Bag-in-Bag-security containment with secure inflation

2013
An airbag system deployed out of a structural member of a vehicle. A main bag is configured to be stored in a folded state in an inner region behind a reference of the structural member, wherein the main bag has a distal end that is configured to rupture a tear seam in the cover. A shielding bag is placed over a gas generator and has a lead body extending from the gas generator away to a remote edge within the main bag. The projection body, apart from at least one gas passage at the remote edge for the connection of inflation gas from the gas generator to the main bag, in the direction of the main bag is substantially continuous. The main bag has a fold, so that inflation of the main bag begins in the vicinity of the gas passage so that the fold is unfolded so that the main bag is moved to the tear seam down.
