DESARROLLO DE REACCIONES DE CONDENSACIÓN ALDÓLICA SOBRE SOPORTE DE CELULOSA DEVELOPMENT OF ALDOL CONDENSATION REACTIONS ON CELLULOSE CHROMATOGRAPHY PAPER SUPPORT

2011
In this paper some reactions on cellulose solid support are developed for students of Organic Chemistry of the second year of the following careers: Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemistry and Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology. The analyzed reactions were those of Claisen-Schmidt between cyclohexanone and benzaldehyde in basic medium for the synthesis of 2,6-dibenzylidene-cyclohexanone and aldolic reaction of acetone with benzaldehyde in basic medium, to prepare 4-hydroxy-4-phenyl-butanone. The products are isolated allowing their identification for a thin layer of chromatography, 1 H-NMR and IR spectroscopy and they are also compared with the products obtained by the traditional method in solution. This simple and efficient methodology that was tested in groups of second year students of this Faculty allows the integration of the topics aldehydes, ketones and enolates learned earlier, in line with IR spectroscopy and 1 H-NMR in a given chemical transformation.
