Modelling of Sea Clutter with Generalized Exponential Distribution

2020
The researches on sea clutter are of great significance for maritime surveillance radar. The generalized exponential (GE) distribution has been proposed to fit some life data and widely used in many fields. In this paper, the amplitude distributions of the experimental sea clutter collected by IPIX radar are statistically investigated. Results of goodness-of-fit test with different polarization demonstrate that the GE distribution provides an excellent fit to the statistical amplitude of sea clutter having a simple expression of probability density function (pdf). This study is the first report introduced the GE distribution into modelling the amplitude distribution of sea clutter.
