Source size conserving broad band monochromators of fixed exit geometry for high energy synchrotron radiation

2001
Abstract The degradation of the effective source size by energy tunable, fixed exit, broad band monochromators for high energy synchrotron radiation (40–100 keV) is measured to be below 2 μrad. Two monochromator schemes consisting of either two bent Laue crystals or two SiGe gradient crystals in a non-dispersive setting are characterized. The relative energy bandwidth is about 0.1% and reflectivities are above 80%. The source size broadening and band widths are found to be in agreement with predictions by a kinematical model.
