Laboratory study on hot deformation behavior of 2205 duplex stainless steel

2012
The softening behavior of 2205 duplex stainless steel during the hot deformation was studied through deeply and systematically analyzing the microstructure of specimens quenched after single pass compressing thermal simulation experiment by using the scanning electron microscope's EBSD.The results showed that the main softening mechanisms were continuous dynamic recrystallization of ferrite and phase transformation between austenite and ferrite, and the strain rate was the key influencing parameter which controlled the softening process through influencing the partition of stain between austenite and ferrite. When the strain rate was very small, the continuous dynamic recrystallization of ferrite and the phase transformation from ferrite to austenite were two competitive softening mechanisms. But with the increase of strain rate, the continuous dynamic recrystallization of ferrite and the phase transformation from austenite to ferrite became the dominant role gradually.
