In a meta-analysis, Huang et al.1 examined the association between job strain and risk of incident stroke. Based on 6 prospective cohort studies comprising 138,782 participants, the authors concluded that exposure to high-strain jobs was associated with an increased risk of stroke, especially in women. In my estimation, current research on job strain and risk of stroke is undermined by a major methodologic problem: the lack of consideration of job-unrelated strain in the conducted studies. In …
