Noise and distortion characteristics of cryogenic vertical cavity lasers

The noise and linearity properties of oxide-apertured vertical cavity lasers optimised for low-power cryogenic operation is reported. The relative intensity noise is lower than -140 dB/Hz and the spur-free dynamic range is between 90-100 dB-Hz/sup 2/3/.
