Physical, Geodetic Methods and Automatic Monitoring System

Fundamental changes in the geodetic deformation analyses methodology happens in the recent years. It is desirable to use several different methods of deformation analyses to improve conventional models. The paper gives a brief overview of the current state of physical and geodetic methods as well as the latest achievements in the analysis of deformations using an automatic monitoring systems. Some of the important automatic observation systems that are popular and frequently used are described. Automatic observation systems support geodetic and non-geodetic sensors used in the determination of the deformations. The implementation of monitoring at the Salakovac dam has been shown as a positive example. All types of geodetic measurements are previously processed and analysed in the GOCA software, so the results are subsequently entered into the ARGUS software for monitoring the condition of the object. The final results represent the displacements of the points on and nearby the dam. The example shows the vertical displacements of the dam crown on the upstream side and the vertical displacements on the plateau in front of the machine room.
