A UWB and Multiband Reconfigurable Antenna for Application in Cognitive Radio

This paper reported a compact Cognitive Radio (CR) antenna system that contains an ultra-wideband (UWB) sensing antenna and a narrowband (NB) communication antenna. The UWB sensing antenna is designed using a tapered fed monopole. It senses over a frequency band 2.2- 11 GHz. The NB reconfigurable antenna operates at 3.854, 4.619, 5.2, and 6.095 GHz. Two ports of the module exhibits less than -15 dB isolation over the entire operating band. The proposed antenna can be used for satellite communication in the C-band (both downlink and uplink), ISM/WLAN, 5G and public safety wireless communications.
