A Score-Based Expert System Application for Paper-Reviewer Assignment Problem

Scientific articles should be sent to the referees to be examined according to some criteria and published as an objective evaluation. In ensuring the quality of scientific journals, the proper and correct examination of the articles plays an important role. The matching of reviewer and articles to be evaluated creates an extra workload for the editors, as well as a problem in terms of efficient use of time. In this study, we present a knowledge-based Expert System aimed at helping editors to do the right paper-reviewer matching. The proposed system recommends editors with the most appropriate matching scoring system, based on factors such as reviewer affinity and article affinity, accuracy, acceptance rate of revision, relevance and conflict of interest factors.
