Influencia del peso del embrión y del endospermo sobre el desarrollo inicial postemergente de plàntulas de maiz (con 3 tablas)

2005
The effect of crossing corn genotypes of different seed size was evaluated on seed Fl weights and their constituent parts, as well as the relationship of these characteristics with the development and seedling vigor originated from these seeds. There were possible heterosis and xenia effects on the seed F1 and embryo weights, effects that were not consistent for the development and initial seedling vigor originated from those seeds. It was observed a positive relationship between the seed F1 and embryo weights with indicative variables of the postemergent, initial vigor of corn seedlings. Contrarily, seed F1 and embryo weights were not significantly related with the developmental speed corn seedlings during the vegetative stage.
