The invention discloses a novel high-voltage tong-type ammeter. The novel high-voltage tong-type ammeter comprises a left tong body 2 and a right tong body 1; the area of the end surface of an opening of the left tong body is different from that of the end surface of the opening of the right tong body, and therefore, the end surface of the opening of the left tong body is kept in contact with the end surface of the opening of the right tong body all the times when the left tong body and the right tong body are closed. According to the novel high-voltage tong-type ammeter, two contact surfaces of an iron core are different in size, so that the same contact area can be ensured when the tong-type ammeter is closed, and as a result, the magnetic flux error caused by the deviation of the contact surfaces of the iron core can be avoided.
