A liquid electrolyte for lithium battery comprising lithium perchlorate (LiClO) dissolved in a quaternary mixture of ethylene carbonate (EC), diethyl carbonate (DEC), tetrahydrofuran (THF) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC). The liquid electrolyte preferably contains between: - 10% and 30% by mass of ethylene carbonate (EC), - 10% and 30% by mass of diethyl carbonate (DEC), - 10% and 30% by mass of tetrahydrofuran (THF ) and - 10% and 70% by weight ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC). The quaternary mixture is preferably a mixture EC / DEC / THF / EMC in a weight ratio of 1/1/1/3. The liquid electrolyte according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in a lithium battery.
