Photovoltaics: Advanced Inorganic Materials

Here we present the status of current and coming solar photovoltaic technologies and their future development. In particular, strengths and limitations of crystalline silicon and thin films (a-Si:H, Si, Cu(In,Ga)(Se,S)2, CdTe, and TCOs) are displayed. The contributions and technological pathways for next-next generation photovoltaics involving nanotechnologies, intermediate band energy, and multiple junctions are described.
