Synthesis and certain properties of vinyl oligoesters based on bisphenols

1984
Abstract Vinyl oligoesters with the general formula , where R is a dicarboxylic acid residue, Ar a bisphenol and n the degree of ologomerization have been synthesized and characterized. The method of synthesis of the oligoesters is based on the acylation of the bisphenols with divinyl esters of dicarboxylic acids in the presence of basic catalysts, the proportion of the reagents determining the average degree of oligomerization. Gel-permeation chromatography has been used to study the molecular mass distribution of the oligoesters synthesized and it has been shown that the distribution is narrower than the most probable distribution. The principal physico-mechanical properties of spatially crosslinked vinyl oligoesters, which were obtained by radical polymerization, have been determined.
