Release of IL-1 and IL-6 from macrophage during their exposure to mineral trioxide aggregate-based sealer

2014
The aim of this study was to assess the release effect of IL-1 and IL-6 cytokine from mouse macrophages during their exposure to MTA-based sealer (MTA Fillapex, Angelus, Londrina, Brazil). MTA Fillapex sealer was placed in contact with cultured mouse macrophages. The supernatant from the cultures was assayed for IL-1 and IL-6 cytokine using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Cell cultures in the absence of tested materials served as negative control. Production of the IL-1 was 0, 002+-0, 001g/ml while the IL-6 was 0, 002+-0, 001 pg/ml. These findings are consistent with the overall impression that MTA is highly biocompatible material
