Survey system for road roughness, rutting, and topography (sirst); user's manual

1987
The detailed topography of a pavement can be measured very rapidly by the system for inventory of road surface topography (sirst), a non contact profilometer. Sirst incorporates 12 electro optical sensors and includes onboard electronic data acquisition and processing systems. This user's manual takes the user step by step through the procedure for obtaining profiles of road roughness. There are four data processing programs: tape2dis converts the data to a readable format on an ibm pc/at. The sirst program calculates the road profile and can create a file for use with hydrop, a program to predict hydroplaning. Header creates the header for hydrop data file, and plot can plot the profiles calculated by sirst (a).
