Cholesterol turnover in hereditary crystalline corneal dystrophy of Schnyder.

1978
SUMMARY Apatientwithhereditarycrystallinecornealdystrophy ofSchnyder required penetrating keratoplasty because of poor visual acuity.Blood cholesterol was labeled with 14C-cholesterol and 11 dayslater a penetrating keratoplasty was done. Atthe time of surgery, corneal levels ofcholesterol were muchhigher than serum levels, showingthatthe corneais anactive site for the uptakeand storage ofcholesterol in this disorder. REFERENCES1.
