Oxygen determination in aluminium by helium-3 activation analysis

The oxygen determination in low-oxygen aluminium is performed by helium-3 activation analysis. The influence of other impurities in the matrix and the method of their elimination without any chemical separation is discussed. Major interferences were eliminated by etching the samples after irradiation. Oxygen contents of 0.7±0.1 ppm were found.
