Detecting the fuel deposition in the intake pipe during re-injection after fuel cut in the engine, on the basis of the detection result to suppress the enrichment of the air-fuel ratio by commanding multiple injection control to improve the fuel economy. Has a fuel injector into the intake pipe, having an air-fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe, directing the plurality of fuel injection in the exhaust stroke and the intake stroke, the sum of the injection pulse width in the exhaust stroke the the first injection pulse width, the sum of the injection pulse width during the intake stroke and the second injection pulse width, the engine control system for commanding the fuel cut and re-injection on the basis of the accelerator opening and the engine speed and the vehicle speed information in, on the basis of the signal of the air-fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor at the time of fuel cut calculates the adherent fuel amount in the intake pipe, the first injection pulse width and the second injection during re-injection on the basis of said adhesion fuel amount suppressing enrichment of the air-fuel ratio by changing the pulse width.
