Transforming Brassica juncea Coss with Cowpea Trypsin Inhibitor Gene and Its Insect-resistance Identification

2003
Explants of mustard were transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens (LBA4404). The putative transformant regeneration plants were assayed by PCR, PCR Southern blot and Northern blot analysis. By these analyses the target bands were observed, the integration of the cowpea trypsin inhibitor(CpTI)gene into mustard genome DNA was confirmed. The result of insect resistance showed that the transgenic plants were more resistant than non transgenic plants.
