Different techniques of inferior alveolar nerve block – A simplified review

2021
Adequate anaesthesia is fundamental for the accomplishment of most dental procedures. It would be achieved by effective pain control using various local anaesthetic techniques. The success of the mandibular nerve block depends on the proximity of the needle tip to the mandibular foramen and by injecting anaesthetic injection into the pterygomandibular region. There are several techniques that have been suggested for the inferior alveolar nerve block. This review article describes various techniques of inferior alveolar nerve block with several anatomical points for reference, thus simplifying the procedure and enabling greater success.
