Use of thermal imaging for understanding simple electrical circuits

2018
In this Frontline article, we describe the application of thermal imaging for helping high school students understand simple direct current (DC) resistive circuits. The circuits comprise a DC power supply (5 V) and four identical incandescent light bulbs in three different arrangements. We demonstrate how thermal imaging can help students learn about Joule heating and rank groups of light bulbs in circuits in the order of power dissipated.
