Effects of different antibiotics on genetic transformation of sweet potato.

2005
The effect of three antibiotics on growth of sweetpatato, including Kanamycin (Kan),carbentcillin (Cn)and cefotaxime (Cef),was discussed in this article.A doses strategy of bacterium inhibition and selection.using agrobacter mediated genetic transformation was established. The results showed that sweet potato bud was very sensitive to Kan,and sweet potato leaf followed it .When the concentration of Kan was 50 mg/L,the growth of sweet potato was almost stop,When the concenttration of Kan was 70 mg/L,sweet potato bud would turn white, then it would turn browning and died in 3 to 5 days. The leaves of sweet potato turn entirely white about in 20 days.200 mg/L cef could accelerate the differentiation of sweet potato callus, while Cn had no apparent influence on it,but when Cn concentration was over 400 mg/L,the inhibiting effect was observed.
