HA~STEICTION COH3Tm OF HULTILAYEE Co/Ag FILHS

The saturation magnetostriotion constant i\, has been measured at room temperature in ColAg multilayer films prepared by evaporation in UHV. It was found that besides the surface magnetostriction term an additional one due to reduoed synnnetry of the magnetoelastic interaction should be incorpora- ted to explain the peculiar dependence of A, on the thickness of CO layer. The dependence of the anisotropy constant Ku on the CO layer thickness in the investigated films resembles the dependence of A,, indicating that the same mechanism are import- ant in both cases.
