Ultra Low Loss Photonic Crystal Fiber Plasmonic Bio-sensor

2019
This article presents, a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with four layers hexagonal formation of air holes for sensing index of refraction (RI). Numerical investigation is performed between the analyte detection ranges from 1.38 to 1.42 by using the finite element method (FEM). Simulation by this method reveal the maximum wavelength sensitivity (WS) of 20,000 nm/RIU and the amplitude sensitivity (AS) of 718 RIU-1. The maximum sensor resolution (SR) is computed as 5×10–5 RIU. In addition, the maximum value of the confinement loss (CL) is as low as 2.15 × 10-4 dB/cm. Therefore, the sensor can be compatible for detecting anonymous bio-molecular analytes on account of having remarkable sensing performance.
