Fe/V 系組成変調多層膜の磁性および磁気光学特性

1990
Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of Fe/V compositionally modulated multilayer films (CMF’s) prepared by rf sputtering method were investigated. Crystallinity and periodicity of Fe/V CMF’s are inferior to those of the Co/Pt, Fe/Pt, Co/Au and Fe/Au CMF’s. Saturation magnetization (Ms) decreases rapidly with decreasing the modulation length (D) below ∼50A. The enhancement of polar Kerr rotation angle (θk) that appeared in Co/Pt or Fe/Cu CMF’s was not observed. The shape of θk spectra is similar to the spectrum of Fe film and show no change even when D and the thickness ratio of Fe/V are varied. Moreover, the calculated θk spectra are in good agreements with the experimental results. This suggests that the interface layers of Fe/V CMF hardly contribute to the polar Kerr effect.
