The effect of the mixture ratio of audible positioning signal and music on the signal and sound quality

2019
In this paper, the relationship between the positioning signal quality and sound quality at different mixture ratio was measured as a design criteria of acoustic indoor positioning system. In the experiment, the positioning signal quality was evaluated as peak-to-root-mean-square ratio (PR ratio) and the sound quality was evaluated by the MUSHRA score with 11 subjects. The experiments were performed for different signal-to-music ratio (SM ratio). As results, it was found that the SM ratio in a range of −40-0 (dB) affects the PR (ratio) and the listener feels uncomfortable with the SM ratio of higher than −26 (dB). The results of this experiment may provide criteria to design acoustic positioning signal in the audible range.
