Seasonal weather behavior on cotton production in t he Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh

The main objective of this study is to assess the m ean annual and seasonal rainfall behavior and also to basify the influence of weather parameters on the cproduction and productivity in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The seasonal rainfall d istribution pattern was analyzed for four seasons v iz., south west, north east, winter and summer. The annu al and south west monsoon rainfall had significantl y positive correlation in the production of cotton. W hereas north east monsoons has negative correlation on cotton production. Winter and summer rainfall ha s positive correlation on cotton production. The weather variables namely; mean maximum temperature, mean minimum temperature had negative correlation on cotton production. The information g enerated on seasonal weather behavior could give impact of seasonal weather on cotton production and productivity. This study will help us to know the seasonal behavior on cotton yield potentiality, yie ld gaps and impact f climate variability on cotton crop.
