Experiential Financial Therapy

2015
This chapter describes experiential financial therapy (EFT), an integration of experiential therapy and financial planning. Research on EFT is reviewed, showing significant reductions in psychological distress, anxiety, worries about finance-related issues, and improved financial health following EFT. This chapter will present in more detail the EFT model, including its theoretical underpinnings, therapeutic techniques, and ethical considerations. A case presentation is provided to illustrate the application of EFT followed by a discussion of future research directions.
