Influencing factors on excitation signal of torsional mode magnetostrictive guided wave

This paper constructed the experimental platform for the testing of torsional mode magnetostrictive guided wave, based on the propagation mechanism of torsional guided wave, and studied the effects on testing signal of torsional mode guided wave under different intensity, frequency and periodic numbers of exciting current. According to the specific object, it shows that the higher signal amplitude indicates the higher exciting intensity. Within the allowable range of experimental platform, 10A is the most optimal value. With the increase of excitation frequency, the amplitude of the testing signals rises first then decreases and reaches maximum at 120kHz; The more the pulse number of exciting current in alternating coils, the higher the amplitude of testing signals, which increases the wave-packet duration and affects the identification of signals at the same time. Therefore, the best selection of period number is 6. The relating research results of this paper provides the foundation for signal optimization of torsional mode magnetostrictive guided wave and references for engineering application of torsional mode detection.
