Modulation Instability in Optical Fibers with Oscillating Dispersion

We report the experimental demonstration of the modulation instability process in optical fibers with a periodic longitudinal evolution of dispersion. The process is characterized by the spontaneous growth of multiple sidebands through quasi-phase-matching.
