Case of Pneumocystis Pneumonia after High-Dose Chemotherapy with Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

2015
ABSTRACT Pneumocystis pneumonia is a rare complication of a high-dose chemotherapy and autologous bone marrow/peripheral hematopoietic stem cells transplantation in patients with hematological malignances. The absence of typical clinical symptoms and the probability of a lethal outcome require a special approach to this problem. A brief review of literature and presented clinical case give an idea of clinical manifestations, course, diagnostic approaches, prevention, and treatment of pneumocystis pneumonia in this category of patients. Keywords: pneumocystis pneumonia, high-do-se chemotherapy, autologous bone marrow trans-plantation.
