A 1.2 Gbit/s fully integrated transimpedance optical receiver OEIC for 1.3-1.55 um transmission systems
1990
Long wavelength integrated receiver designs reported to date [1–3] tend to use a single stage inverter amplifier with an active load to provide the required voltage amplification. This design, however, suffers from a substantial amount of Miller capacitance associated with the voltage gain and the gate-drain capacitance of the input FET. To minimise this undesirable effect, we report a transimpedance receiver design which incorporates a low input capacitance, high gain cascode amplifier and shows a substantial improvement in bandwidth over that achievable with the conventional inverter amplifier employing identical components.
