Nonlinear Junction Detection vs. Electronics: System Design and Improved Linearity

2020
Much literature relevant to nonlinear junction detection and harmonic radar discusses tracking of nonlinear tags. Those tags are designed to generate particular response frequencies and maximize power received at those frequencies. A related but distinctly different body of work seeks to detect devices which are not explicitly designed to respond to such a sensor. This paper summarizes recent work performed by those who have been evaluating nonlinear junction detection to address commercial devices and other collections of electronics. A transceiver, consisting of only off-the-shelf components, is simulated. By implementing absorptive passive filtering and feedforward filter reflection, the simulated design achieves harmonic distortion below 200 dBc.
