Trabeculectomy combined with mitomycin C for treating traumatic glaucoma

Objective To observe the clinical effect of trabeculectomy combined with mitomycin C for treating traumatic glaucoma.Methods 19 patients(19 eyes) with trauma-induced glaucoma received trabeculectomy combined with mitomycin C application.Postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP),conditions of filtering bleb,visual acuity and postoperative complications were followed up for 6 months.Results Postoperative IOP was lower than preoperative IOP(P<0.01).Filtering bleb formed 3-7 days after surgery.The main complications were hyphema and shallow anterior chamber.There were no severe complications.Conclusion Trabeculectomy combined with mitomycin C is a safe and effective method in treating traumainduced secondary glaucoma.The above method can be used once the lOP could not be controlled by medication.
