Desizing and softening of cellulosic fiber

PURPOSE: To provide a method for desizing and softening cellulosic fibers, capable of simultaneously enhancing a desizing effect and improving the softness and touch of the fibers by treating the cellulosic fibers containing a starchy sizing agent with an aqueous solution containing both an amylase and a cellulase. CONSTITUTION: This method for desizing and softening cellulosic fibers comprises treating the cellulosic fibers containing a starchy sizing agent in a treating bath containing both an amylase and a cellulase in concentrations of 0.1-1 W/V% and 0.1-5 W/V%, respectively, and controlled to pH 4-10. The simultaneous employment of both the enzymes simultaneously enables the enhancement in the effect for removing the starchy sizing agent and the improvement in the softness and touch of the fibers.
