Estimating Soil Moisture Using the Optical Trapezoid Model (OPTRAM) in a Semi-Arid Area of SONGNEN Plain, China Based On Landsat-8 Data

2019
The OPtical TRApezoid Model (OPTRAM) has recently been introduced for calculation of soil moisture using only optical remote sensing data. Based on shortwave infrared transformed reflectance (STR)-Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) trapezoidal space, the surface soil moisture can be estimated. In this study, Landsat 8 satellite observations were acquired and used for the analysis. Th soil moisture during growing season in a semi- arid agricultural region in Songnen Plain, China was estimated based on the OPTRAM. The results may help to retrieval soil moisture and monitor its seasonal dynamics, which are of great significance for water resources planning management, sustainable land use and agricultural production.
