Omics Data Integration in Systems Biology: Methods and Applications

2014
Abstract The explosion of high-throughput omics technologies of the last two decades has motivated the development of bioinformatics tools and statistical methods for the integration of these data into large-scale repositories and information-rich models that fall under the scope of Systems Biology research. In this chapter, we review the available resources for omics data integration from the perspectives of data storage and retrieval resources, mathematical modeling, and visualization tools for the interpretation of integration models. We discuss current approaches for integrative analysis involving different types of omics data and indicate some relevant projects and future challenges in this field.
