Progress in Research into Stem Cell Transplantation Used in Cardiac Pacing

2007
Electronic pacemakers are used to treat a variety of disorders of the cardiac conduction system, with sinus node dysfunction being the primary indication that a pacemaker is required. However, they are not optimal.Their high cost, limited battery life, and lack of response to autonomic neurohormone count against them.As an approach to therapy, cell transplantation is undergoing rapid development.Significant progress has been made in research into stem cell transplantation used in cardiac pacing. This article reviews this progress.
