Electrospun Matrices from Natural Polymers for Skin Regeneration

2019
Abstract Electrospinning is considered to be the most successful method to produce nanofibers because of its versatility and easy production of continuous nanofibers from a wide variety of materials. To date, many of the works on electrospinning have focused on synthetic biodegradable polymers for numerous applications in electronic devices, transportation, energy, and medicine. In this review, a focus is given on electrospinning of natural polymers and accordingly their applications in wound healing. Natural polymers that are discussed here include polysaccharides (cellulose, chitosan, and alginates) and proteins (collagen and gelatin), etc.
