OFDMA-Based Asymmetric Full-Duplex Media Access Control for the Next Generation WLANs.

Along with physical layer advancements, the introduction of in-band full-duplex (IBFD) into the next generation wireless local area networks (WLANs) has become feasible. This paper presents AO-FDMAC, a novel OFDMA-based full-duplex media access control (MAC) that alleviates the inter-STA interference problem and supports uplink and downlink transmission of asymmetric lengths traffic in full-duplex scenarios. Meanwhile, access point (AP) maintains a global interference graph based on the power information collected by STAs for the proposed greedy sub-channel allocation algorithm, which governs the transmission of uplink data for multiple STAs during a single downlink transmission in one sub-channel. Simulation results show that compared with the legacy IEEE 802.11ax protocol and a centralized full-duplex MAC protocol, our proposed protocol achieves higher performance in terms of throughput and transmission delay.
