The invention relates to a targeting agent having attached at least one cryptophycin compound of formula (I): wherein: ▪ R represents a halogen atom and R is -OH, an acyl group derived from AA amino acid or a (C -C) alkanoyloxy; or R and R together form an epoxide moiety; • AA refers to a natural amino acid or non-natural; ▪ R represents a (C -C) alkyl; ▪ R and R are both H or together form a double bond -CH = CH- between C13 and C14; ▪ R and R independently of one another H or a (C -C) alkyl; ▪ R and R independently of one another H or a (C -C) alkyl; ▪ R represents at least one substituent of the phenyl ring selected from: H, OH, (C -C) alkoxy, a halogen atom; ▪ R represents at least one substituent of the phenyl ring selected from H or a (C -C) alkyl; the targeting agent and the cryptophycin derivative being covalently attached, the attachment being located in ortho (o), meta (m) and para (p) of the carrier CR phenyl ring pattern.
